Autumn at the garden

It has been an exciting time at the garden… After a successful information evening, we have new volunteers, have cleared a large area and have added more detail to our garden plan.

Three community garden volunteers attended a two day permaculture course at the Garth Community Garden – they brought back many new ideas for the garden plan. The plan is really developing now, but it still needs input, especially from you experienced gardeners out there!

We have started removing tree stumps and roots from the site. This has been hard work for our volunteers, but nothing they cannot manage – we intend to remove those roots remaining over the next few weeks.

The site is teeming with wildlife, during the Keep Wales Tidy ‘Wild Weekend’ (27-28th October) we intend to build some enhanced habitat zones. We will use material found on the site, to create brash piles. Brash piles are great for wildlife and will help mark out some of the areas on site. If you like wildlife, or just want to help, this will be a great weekend to get involved!
